About the Deepings Community Centre
The Deepings Community Centre was opened in October 2000 being the culmination of 3 years work by a group of local people who won £50,000 of funding in the BT Better Towns Competition. The group worked closely with South Kesteven District Council and other local groups to bring about the dream of a Community Centre for the Deepings.
The acquisition of the Old Health Centre in Douglas Road by SKDC provided the base for the Community Centre. The funds were raised by The Deepings Community Trust (DCT) and contributions from a number of sources, notably Deepings Rotary, have enabled DCT to fit out the centre for a wide range of activities.
Well established
The Community Centre is now an established and valued part of many local peoples’ lives.
It is a base for a wide range of activities including:-

· A fully equipped computer facility, offering computer and IT courses and learning opportunities.

Our Garden Area can be used in the summer by users and has a large grassed area, hard standing, patio and sensory garden. Click here to a link to our garden page.
Our Reception has a large Community Notice Board, Tourist Information Point and a Reception Desk.
Finance
We do not receive any core funding, so the low charges made for hiring rooms cover maintenance, development and renewals. The Centre is run by the Deeping Community Trust Ltd., a company limited by guarantee, and has three voluntary Trustees. The building is provided by SKDC but the DCT is responsible for all other facilities.
Volunteers
Most of the running of the Centre is undertaken by unpaid volunteers. The jobs include maintenance, reception, the garden and administration. We do employ a Cleaner and an Buildings Manager.
If you would like to join us, we are always looking for assistance, particularly receptionists, so that we can man the desk all the time the Centre is open. Leave your contact details in the basket at Reception or phone 01778 381770. There is an answer-phone if no one is about. A regular commitment is preferable but if this is not suitable there is a list in the Volunteers Room where you can sign up for unfilled slots. For the first few times you will be with an existing volunteer to show you the ropes. If you like meeting and helping people, this is for you!
Your input
If you would like to see any changes to the way the Centre is run, facilities provided, or uses for our facilities (e.g. evening classes, specialist clubs etc.), please drop a note through the Trustees Office letterbox. Please include your name, address and contact number together with your suggestion. We can be contacted by e-mail - trustees@deepingscommunitycentre.org.uk
